How to Make a Custom Decision Wheel (Step by Step)

The built-in wheels in Spin The Wheel - Choose cover a lot of common decisions, but building your own only takes a minute — and it’s the fastest way to make the app useful for whatever you’re actually trying to decide. Here’s the full process.

Can't decide? Spin the wheel and let it choose for you.

1. Start a new wheel

From the home screen, create a new roulette and give it a name — something specific like “Weekend Plans” or “Chore Rotation” makes it easier to find again later in your saved list.

2. Add your options

Type in each option as its own slice. There’s no real limit on how many you add — the built-in “Win or Lose” wheel ships with 50 slices, so whether you need 3 options or 30, the wheel scales to fit.

3. Customize the text

Tap into any slice and open “Customise Text” to make it bold, underlined, or cursive, and pick a text color. This matters more than it sounds like — a wheel where every important option is styled differently is much easier to read mid-spin.

4. Set a background per slice

Each slice can have its own background color or a picked image, so you’re not stuck with the default palette. This is especially useful for wheels where the option is easier to recognize as a picture than as text — think restaurant logos or photos of friends’ faces for a “who’s turn is it” wheel.

5. Pick a sound

Assign a sound to play when the wheel lands on that slice — the default is a satisfying “ta-da,” but you can swap it per slice if you want certain results to feel like a bigger deal than others.

6. Choose a theme

Beyond individual slices, the whole wheel can sit on a themed background — Forest, Sci-Fi City, and Healthy Food are built in, with more added regularly. Pick whichever one matches the vibe of what you’re deciding.

7. Save it and spin

Once it’s set up, save the wheel so it’s ready to reuse — no need to rebuild it every time. It’ll sit alongside the app’s ready-made wheels for whenever you need it next.

That’s the whole process — a couple of minutes now saves you from re-arguing the same decision every time it comes up.
